The common people regarded it with a mixture of respect and superstition, partly out of sympathy for the fate of its ill-starred namesake, and partly from the tales of strange sights and doleful lamentations told concerning it. As Ichabod approached this fearful tree, he began to whistle: he thought his whistle was answered-it was but a blast sweeping sharply through the dry branches. As he approached a little nearer, he thought he saw something white, hanging in the midst of the tree-he paused and ceased whistling; but on looking more narrowly, perceived that it was a place where the tree had been scathed by lightning, and the white wood laid bare. Suddenly he heard a groan-his teeth chattered and his knees smote against the saddle: it was but the rubbing of one huge bough upon another, as they were swayed about by the breeze. The centerpiece of the tote is a hand-silkscreened patch featuring the BPAL brimstone symbol laid on top of an 18th century engraving of a human chest cavity. Approximately 10" tall in the center, 18" wide at its widest point, with an 11" opening. The strap measures approximately 14". Only 13 of the satin pouches have been made, and only 15 of the totes. Each piece was hand-crafted individually, and every bottle top is unique. A glass wand dips into the oil from the inside of the bottle top, and they will fit either 5 or 10ml bottles. Twenty of these silver bottle tops have been made, and due to the time and effort expended in their construction, we regret to announce that they will never be recreated. There are two generously sized pockets on the front (6½" by 7½"), perfect for holding smaller pieces of alchemical equipment. DISTRESSED LEATHER TRIPLE DAGGER TANK! Hand-dyed 100% combed cotton tanks built for a girly figure thanks to textured 3x1 ribbing and a top-heavy cut; they are form-fitting, stretchy and clinging in all the right places. The tanks possess 3/8” baby rib binding to help ensure that they keep their shape, they are baby blankie soft, and they have a resilient double-stitched bottom hem. The image on the tank has been placed on soft distressed leather, secured with contrasting tea-stain stitching and 14 black rhinestone studs. Each tank top is handmade, one piece at a time. Please note that the tanks run very small, though the flexibility of the fabric is accommodating. You should choose a size based on both your body shape and the way you like your tanks to fit. Small / medium will fit size 0-8, medium / large will fit size 6-12, and extra-large will fit 10-14. Fully washable. BLACK PHOENIX LEATHER IMP POUCHES Hand-made imp pouches, created for Black Phoenix. These imp pouches are crafted from the finest black leather. They have been emblazoned with a hand-crafted distressed leather patch, and have contrasting white stitching and a snap closure. The distressing process gives the pouches an aged look, and lends the pieces a rich, antique feel. The imp pouches hold ten imps with ease, and also make fantastic wallets and ID / business card holders. 4” x 3". This is not a vegan item. Each leather imp pouch is $38.00US. From the 5 April 2007 update: Site revamp! Due to an increase in production costs, every soap other than Snake Oil is now $8.50 per bar. As each bar of Snake Oil contains exponentially more oil than the other soaps, the cost per bar of Snake Oil soap is now $10.00. Also new this month… some damn fine environmentally-friendly, free-trade-lovin’, handmade skin-butterin’ soap created as a joint venture between the Black Phoenix Family and Silk Road Trading Company. We're ringing in 2007 with the first of our fizzing and bubbling concoctions: fizzyBOOM, Black Phoenix bath bombs. The first of the bombs are brimming with Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Elixirs, and contain a bevy of beautifying ingredients, and contain no synthetic dyes or funky additives. They weigh in at a massive eight ounces for maximum fizzability, and are priced at $5.50 per bomb. The Trading Post is also thrilled to present this month's Lunacy Tee, Hunger Moon.  This diabolical design will be live until January 4, 2007. And finally... we present the Agony or Ecstasy Inquisition! From the December 22nd update: Balthazar and Seamus have busted open the new Trading Post department, Whatnot, with the first of the BPAL statuary.
